  Rebels in DRC kill 6 soldiers 2014-04-30 19:07 Kinshasa - A rebel group in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo killed six government soldiers on Wednesday during an attack on the army and the UN mission Monusco. The attack was carried out by the Alliance for a Free and Sovereign Congo (APCLS) in the Nyabondo area, about 70km north of the regional hub Goma in the restive province of North Kivu. Monusco's military spokesperson Felix-Prosper Basse told reporters in Kinshasa that one member of the UN force and three other soldiers were also wounded. Basse accused the APCLS of opening fire on civilians during the raid, which he said forced hundreds of families to flee their homes and seek Monusco protection. The spokesperson also said the UN and Congolese regular forces, who have for months been attempting to clear North Kivu of its myriad rebel groups, had swiftly regained the upper hand....

  ICC Congo witness on hunger strike over asylum bid 30/04/2014 A Congolese witness who implicated President Joseph Kabila in testimony at the International Criminal Court has gone on hunger strike over his stalled Dutch asylum bid, his lawyer said on Wednesday. Floribert Ndjabu has been placed under medical observation at the ICC's detention unit in The Hague, where he has been held for over three years after seeking asylum in the Netherlands, fearing prosecution if he is sent back to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), lawyer Ghislain Mabanga told AFP. "This is the last option, all other paths have been blocked, all procedures at the ICC have been exhausted," Mabanga said.   Ces observations de  "magazine Rwanda-geopolitique" nous rappellent helas la question de  feu Mr Gitera de Butare s'adressant un jour au Hutu  general  Juvenal Habyarimna, ainsi:  " Comment comptez-vous vous reconcilier avec vos Tutsi alors que le litige est qu'ils veulent reprendre la chaise d'Urugwiro ou vous etes assis ?" Habyarimana en a paye de sa vie, sans oublier des millions de rwandais qui l'ont accompagne chez St Pierre.    Les Tutsi ont maintenant effectivement repris la chaise mais ont bien peur qu'ils ne puissent la garder aisement seuls et pour tres longtemps.
