La mort de Karine Buisset à Goma : l'occupation du Rwanda, une frappe de drone et la longue logique de la violence ciblée.

Dans la nuit du mercredi 11 mars 2026, un drone a frappé un immeuble résidentiel de deux étages dans le quartier Himbi de Goma, ville occupée par les rebelles RDF/M23 soutenus par le Rwanda depuis janvier 2025. Karine Buisset, ressortissante française âgée de 54 ans, originaire de Belz dans le Morbihan et chargée de la protection de l'enfance pour l'UNICEF, dormait dans l'appartement de Christine Guinot, responsable de la sécurité de l'UNICEF en RDC, qui était absente cette nuit-là. Karine Buisset est décédée sur place. Deux autres personnes ont également été tuées. À 4 h 12, une deuxième vague de frappes a touché la ville.

The Killing of Karine Buisset in Goma: Rwanda's Occupation, a Drone Strike, and the Long Pattern of Targeted Violence

In the early hours of Wednesday, 11 March 2026, a drone struck a two-storey residential building in the Himbi neighbourhood of Goma, a city held by Rwanda-backed RDF/M23 rebels since January 2025. Karine Buisset, a 54-year-old French national from Belz in Morbihan and a UNICEF child protection officer, was sleeping in the apartment of Christine Guinot, UNICEF's head of security in the DRC, who was not present that night. Buisset died at the scene. Two other people were also killed. By 4:12 a.m., a second wave of strikes had hit the city.
