RwandAir scandal: Kagame summons RwandAir boss over crisis

Kigali-Rwanda-RwandAir boss John Mirenge, has been summoned to Urugwiro village over the missing funds from dubious online air tickets sales-Great Lakes Voice has independently established.


This afternoon, at exactly 2:00Pm Mirenge was inside Kagame's office ready to be grilled.


John Mirenge has met Kagame after the news which Great Lakes Voice reported January 11, 2015 about 600 Millions RWF disappeared mysteriously from RwandAir and the exact amount is yet unknown to investigators.


Among the three suspects who were held by Police pending investigations, two have been fled. Police investigations reveal the former staff of RwandAir fled the country after reports of investigations reached him.


RwandAir said yesterday said that their former staffer had worked together in putting up an illegal network in processing online ticket sales as well as funds collection which led to the theft. RwandAir also accepts that they are cooperating with the Police in investigating the case. John Mirenge maintains that the "illegal transactions still under Police investigations."


Upon successful closure of the investigations, established legal measures will be followed to handle this case in the most transparent manner," Mirenge said.


Though Mirenge says the lost cash amounts to $30,000 which is equivalent to RWF 22 millions. However, Police sources maintain to great lakes Voice that more than Rwf 600 Millions disappeared in a thin air.
